Editing wiki entries of other wiki members.

29 03 2007

Hi everyone!

I haven’t written in a while… at least it feels like it… the weather has been terrible… with rain and snow recently falling… it’s spring time and everything’s melting… there’s mud all over… ugh!… Kind of difficult to walk on the streets… but there are also sunny days that are just wonderful for a walk outside! :)

This week, I’ve been visiting different wiki websites and it was fun how everyone was having these different ideas and themes on their wikis… these are the following that I visited: www.not4kids.wetpaint.com, iroxanai.wetpaint.com, irresistible.wetpaint.com and several others. I onjoyed reading the different things that these people had to say about the topics they were interested in…

I liked the one about Leonardo Da Vinci and the movie: “Arthur and th Miniputs.” Some websites allowed me to edit their pages and it was fun editing them because I could make some changes to the text…

I also left some comments on those websites as a part of an assignment that Mr. Emrich gave us… Some wikis didn’t allow me to leave a comment, however, most of others did…

So it was interesting to read other people’s comments and to leave one of my own… :)

Well, I guess that’s it!!! Have a nice day and a wonderful weekend!

My wayn.com community.

28 02 2007

Well, for this week’s entry I’d like to tell you guys about the wayn.com website, which I a part of.

This community is made up of people of different ages from all over the world.

The distincitive feature about it is that it allows you to track your friends around the world on where the are right now!

All you have to do is create your own account and tell about yourself and other people can see your profile and tell you about themselves.

Moreover, your wayn.com account tells you all the time about the people that are visiting your country who are also using wayn.com.

So through it you can even meet some people with whom you’ve been chating over the net in your country or the other person’s country.

What’s more, you can see pictures of other people who are visiting your country and many more.

Finally, what you can do is meet with other guys or girls inside this site!

So it’s really fun!

Try it out if you’d like…

On Online Journalism.

22 02 2007

It is interesting how news companies and conglomerates are resorting to websites to reach the audiences.

The traditional media such as: newspapers, TVs and radios are still popular but Internet is becoming more and more convenient every each day. Alhtough of course it depends on the geographical location and economic development of a country you’re in. However, a majority of people prefer to use the internet for news.

Well, I guess there are many reasons for this… but here are the reasons why I think that they resort to it:

1. It is accessible at any time, anywhere.

2. It has archives section on the website where you can find the articles you need.

3. It allows you to search news that you desire.

4. It allows journalists to post their points of view and let readers know their stance on certain topics.

5. It is convenient for amatuer journalists trying out their skills.

Well, and many other reasons why internet is fun.

I like one news website: CNN… it’s got podcasts, video version of the news and print version. Also it has all the categories like: entertainment, fashion, politics, science, different world regions.

So its a really efficient way of both reading and posting news. Plus, I betthe news can be changed easily if something comes up suddenly.

So look up the websites… they’re fun…

My fave community.

21 02 2007

The community that I am a part of is the WAYN.com messaging and stuff. It is very interesting because there are different kinds of people there and it gives information about people who are on the internet are in your country.

In addition, the WAYN.com allows people around the world to know who is coming to your country at the moment who is on the internet.

There are a lot of other things. You can post your photo and visit other people’s blogs.

So it’s really fun!

Review of chapters: We Media Weblog

15 02 2007

The chapters in the We Media Weblog proved to be very interesting.

In the chapters that I read it says that as new information technologies emerge and many people use them news is becoming a commodity that anyone can create.

Truly, with ordinary people now contributng to the news, the news are becoming more personalized and more fun to read. Moreover, every person can participate in the process of dissemination and gathering of news.

However, I do not quite agree with the fact that participatory jounalism will be able to replace traditional media.

Although people are demanding more of the news but and they demand news that suit their interests, however, isn’t it the mainstream media that serve as the main source of information for all citizens of the world?

I think that although every citizen now reports news from their local cities or countires people will still need maninstream media to inform them.

Otherwise imagine if there were no CNN, BBC, Newsweek, Euronews, (Russian) Segodnya and other media that bring daily news? Where would all the people get their information? What would they use as a basis for their opinions? Of course, every each person lives in his or her own country and sees some important events happening… but still, it is the mainstream media that feed the public with the most necessary information from which the audience can form their own opinions or views.

Moreover, it is after reading the news that the readers are inspired to investigate more deeply into the subject and not the other way around.

Thus, I don’t quite agree with this article…

Another point that the article made was that news are becoming businesses that are interested in making a profit… well, of course! In modern day world, that’s importnat… I mean how would the journalists survive otherwise? Plus, the job of a journalist is not an easy one and he or she needs to some reward just as every other citizen receives rewards for their hard work!

Well, anyways, those are my views…

Hope I wasn’t too boring… I wrote so much! he-he!…

Anyways, have a nice day and weekend ya’ll!!!
